Intelli-Search – The search field with suggest list

The intelligent search field for xt:Commerce Shop 3.0.4 SP 2.1 extends the known search field with an automatic suggest list. If the customer enters the first signs of a search term, the name and description of products and categories are browsed on your server and matching results will be displayed in a suggest list bellow the search field.

Example of use:

In your shop a product called „Office 10.0 Software “ and a category called “Applications” exists. If the customer enters an “a”in the search field the product and the category will be automatically displayed in the suggest list cause both terms contain an ”a”.

If the customer enters a “r” after the “a” (“ar” overall) only the product “Office 10.0 Software” will be displayed (cause the word “Application” doesn’t contain the character combination “ar”).

With a simple click on one of the items on the suggest list the customer will be redirected to the selected product or category.

Additional to the source code of this extension you will get new classes for you shop stylesheet. With this classes you are able to change the appearance an position of the suggest list as you like.

Advice for installation:
The installation of this extension doesn’t assume programming knowledge in PHP. All changes on existing shop files are described in detail in the installation manual and can be done by copy-paste.
